Janet Preston studied at University of Ulster, Belfast.
Solo exhibitions have included Old Museum Arts Centre (OMAC), Belfast (1997); Temple Bar Galleries, Dublin (1995); and Harmony Hills Arts Centre, Lisburn (1993). She exhibited with Bill Penney at Lessedra Art Gallery Bulgaria (2011). She has represented Northern Ireland at the Krakow International Print Triennial at The Horst-Janssen Museum in Oldenburg and Kunstlerhaus in Vienna. Preston has also had her work selected by international jury for the 14th International Print Biennial National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and in 2012 her work was selected for 'Art at Wharepuke' an open submission show in New Zealand.
Preston was commissioned by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon to produce work for the touring school show ‘Altered States’ (1995).
