Kathy Prendergast (b. Dublin, Ireland, 1958) studied at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and the Royal College of Art, London.
She participated in the 1985 Paris Biennale, and she represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale in 1995, where she won the Best Young Artist Award. In 2000 the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin presented a retrospective exhibition of her work. Prendergast has exhibited widely including solo shows at Peer, London (2010); Kerlin Gallery (2007, 2009); Tate Britain (1997); South Bank Centre, London (1993;, and group shows at Douglas Hyde Gallery (2011); Berard Museum, Lisbon (2011); Sydney Biennale (2002); and the ICA, Boston (2000).
She is represented in the collections of the Tate Gallery, London; the British Government; the Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville; Santa Barbara University Museum; the Albright-Knox Museum, Buffalo; the Contemporary Museum, Honolulu; Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; The Arts Council of Ireland and numerous private collections in Ireland, Great Britain, Europe and USA.
