O'Neill, Mary Rose

Biography

Mary O'Neill (b. Cork, Ireland, 1961) studied Fine Art at Dun Laoghaire School of Art, Crawford College of Art, Cork and Loughborough University. In 2007 she completed an AHRC funded PhD - Ephemeral Art: Memory and Loss. O’Neill is currently Senior Lecturer in Critical and Cultural Context, and Programme Leader Fine Art at the University of Lincoln.

She has held solo exhibitions at Fenton Gallery, Cork (2001); Kilcock Art Gallery, Kildare (1999); Original Print Gallery, Dublin (1998); and Triskel Arts Centre, Cork (1990). Group shows have included Glucksman Gallery, Cork (2013); Draíocht, Blanchardstown, Dublin (2006); Fenton Gallery, Cork (2000); and Lavit Gallery, Cork (1997). O’Neill was commissioned by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon to produce work for the touring school show ‘Altered States’ (1995).

Her work is represented in the collections of The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon; Office of Public Works (OPW); University College Cork, Modern Art Collection; and Fingal County Council Collection.
