Fromel, Gerda
Gerda Frömel (b. Czechoslovakia, 1931 and d. 1975) studied sculpture at the Arts Schools in Stuttgart, Darmstadt and Munich and in 1956 she came to Ireland.
A retrospective of her work was presented at Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane the year after her untimely death in 1975. She had a solo shows at The Dawson Gallery (1970, 1964); and a joint show with Michael Scott at The Dawson Gallery (1967). She exhibited at the Independent Artists Exhibition (1962, 1963); Irish Exhibition of Living Art, Dublin (1966-1975); and Oireachtas Art Exhibition (1970).
Her work can be seen in the public collections of the The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon; Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; and Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin.
