Smith, Rob

Rob Smith (b. Wordsley, England, 1946 and d. 1990) studied at Wolverhampton College of Art and Manchester Polytechnic, England.

He participated in group shows at Project Arts Centre, Douglas Hyde Gallery, and in the Decade Show at the Guinness Hop Store in 1986. He also showed his work at the Irish Exhibition of Living Art of which he was a committee member for several years. In 1986, he had his first solo exhibition at the Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast. In 1994, IMMA mounted the retrospective exhibition ‘Rob Smith 1947-1990’.

His work is in the collections of The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Contemporary Irish Arts Society, the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the Institute of Contemporary Art, London.
