Benson, Carmel

Biography

Carmel Benson (b. Wexford, Ireland, 1950) studied at University College Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology. She joined Graphic Studio Dublin where she later became a director.

Solo exhibitions include Hallward Gallery, Dublin (2003, 1999) and Watchouse Gallery, Enniscorthy (1997). Group exhibitions include Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2004); Galerie Michele Broutta, Paris (2001); Glasgow Print Gallery, Scotland (2001); The Royal Academy, London (1998, 2003).

Benson was commissioned by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon to produce work for the touring school show ‘Altered States’ (1995). Apart from The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, her work is included in many public and private collections including the Irish Contemporary Art Society.
