McGookin, Colin

Colin McGookin (b. Antrim, Northern Ireland, 1958) studied at the Ulster College of Art.

Solo exhibitions include Ards Arts Centre, Newtownards, Co. Down (2003); The Studios Gallery, Queen Street Studios, Belfast (2001); Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast (1998); Project Arts Centre, Dublin (1991); and Queen's University, Belfast (1984).  Group shows include Irish Exhibition of Living Art (1987); SADE ’87; eva International, Limerick (1986); and Independent Artists (1986). McGookin was commissioned by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon to produce work for the touring school show ‘Inside Out’ (1993).

His work features in many public and private collections including the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon’s public collections. Colin is a founder member of both the artists collective of Northern Ireland and the Queen Street Studies in Belfast He is an elected associate member of the Ulster Academy since 1989.
