Clarke, Carey
Carey Clarke (b. Donegal, Ireland, 1936) attended the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, Salzburg Summer Academy of Fine Art and Slade School of Fine Art, University College, London. During 2012 a retrospective of his work was held at RHA Galleries, Dublin.
Other major solo exhibitions include the Solomon Gallery, Dublin (1990); Grafton Gallery, Dublin, (1987); Emmet Gallery, Dublin, (1973); Winged Arts Gallery, Sedona, Arizona, USA (1972); and Molesworth Gallery, Dublin (1966). Major group exhibitions include Christopher Gallery, Madison Avenue, New York, USA (1973); RHA Annual Exhibition (1967 to date); Oireachtas Art Exhibition, annually (1957 – 1978); and Irish Exhibition of Living Art, Dublin (1956). Clarke was commissioned by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon to produce work for the touring school show ‘A Special Place’ (1988).
Clarke’s work is represented in the collections of the Ulster Museum, Belfast; Office of Public Works (OPW); RTÉ and Central Bank of Ireland among others.
