Dillon, Gerard

Gerard Dillon b. Belfast, 1916 and d. 1971, was largely self-taught as an artist.

Retrospectives of his work were held at Ulster Museum (1972) and Droichead Arts Centre (2003). An exhibition of work by Gerard Dillon and Nano Reid was presented in Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda (2009). Solo exhibitions include Tom Caldwell Gallery (1977); Mercury Gallery, London (1967); and Arts Council Gallery, Belfast (1966).

Dillon’s work is represented in the collections of Crawford Municipal Gallery, Cork; Drogheda Municipal Art Collection;, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin; Limerick City Gallery of Art; National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin; Ulster Museum, Belfast and Waterford Municipal Art Collection.
