Butler, Joe

Joseph Butler (b. Kilkenny, Ireland, 1955) studied at National College of Art and Design, Dublin and New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture.

Solo exhibitions of Butler’s work include Riverbank Arts Centre, Co. Kildare (2005); Hallward Gallery, Dublin (1998); The Basement Gallery, Dundalk (1994); Butler Gallery, Kilkenny (1993) and the Project Arts Centre, Dublin (1977). He has contributed to many group shows including Oireachtas (numerous), Irish Exhibition of Living Artists (1987), Iontas (2004) and RHA Annual shows (numerous).

Butler was commissioned by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon to produce work for the touring school show ‘Heads’ (1988).
