Mackey, Christine
Christine Mackey’s practice investigates the historical, political and biodynamical and economic ecologies of plant life through the subject of the seed. Meticulously researched, her work pursues a narrative structure assembled from key research material, sites of interest and public participation.
Recent solo exhibitions include Provisional AC Institute New York, The Potting Shed Artlink Donegal and Seed Matter III Limerick City Gallery of Art.
Resident artist at various cultural institutions including The Observatory, New Forest, ACA Allenheads, Delfina Foundation, London, Agora Collective, Berlin, Utopiana Genève, Switzerland and Rejmyre Art Lab, Sweden.
She is also author, designer and publisher of several books and pamphlets that focus on the complex relationships to site, agency and ecology. Her work has received support from The Arts Council of Ireland Bursary Awards, Culture Ireland and EV+A Limerick.
