Yeats, Anne

Anne Yeats (b. Dublin, Ireland 1919 and d. 2001) trained in the Royal Hibernian Academy school and worked as a stage designer with the Abbey before taking up painting full time in 1941.

A memorial exhibition of 20 paintings and drawings, including sketchbooks donated by her brother Michael Yeats, was held at the National Gallery of Ireland in 2002. The Royal Hibernian Academy held a retrospective of her work in 1995, as did the National Gallery of Ireland in 2002. Her solo exhibitions included Taylor Galleries, Dublin (1994, 1981); Dublin George Gallery, Retrospective (1990); Sligo Art Gallery (1984, 89); Caen, France (1979); University of Winnipeg, Canada (1975); County Library & Museum, Sligo; Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, Dublin (1971-72) and Dawson Gallery, Dublin (1966, 1963). She regularly participated in group exhibitions the Irish Exhibition of Living Art, Taispeántas an Oireachtas.

Yeats’ work is included in the collections of The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon; The National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin; Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; The Ulster Museum, Belfast and Trinity College, Dublin.
