Seawright, Paul
Paul Seawright (b. Belfast, Northern Ireland, 1965) studied at University of Ulster, Belfast, West Surrey College of Art and Design, UK, and University of Wales.
Seawright represented Wales in the 2003 Venice Biennale and in 2005, the FotoMuseum Antwerp exhibited a major survey exhibition of his work. His solo exhibitions include shows at the Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast (2008); National Media Museum, Bradford (2007); Kerlin Gallery, Dublin (2006); the Imperial War Museum, London (2003); Milton Keynes Gallery (2003); the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin (2003); and Photographers' Gallery, London (1995). Major group shows include ‘How We Are: Photographing Britain’, Tate Britain, London (2007); Seoul Photo Triennale, The Seoul Museum of Art, Korea (2005) and University of Virginia Art Museum (2003).
Seawright’s work is in the collections of The Art Institute of Chicago; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; The Tate, London; Contemporary Art society, London; University of Cork/Glucksman; The International Centre of Photography, New York; The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Great Britain; The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin; among many other international public and private collections.
