Cecily Brennan b. Co. Galway, Ireland 1955, studied at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.
Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Black Tears’ video screening at Crawford Gallery Cork (2011); ‘Love Video’ Oriel Mostyn Gallery, Wales (2011), and ‘Balancing’ Ormeau Baths Gallery (2005). Brennan’s work was included in ‘Pallas Periodical Review’ in Pallas Projects and ‘Other Stories’ Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast (both 2011).
Brennan’s work is included in the collections of the Arts Council of Ireland; Crawford Gallery, Cork; Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA); Office of Public Works (OPW) among others.
Cecily Brennan (b.1955) attended the National College of Art & Design in Dublin before becoming Director of Project Arts Centre between 1983-86. Her early practice was informed by painting but in recent years has evolved to include video, film and activism. She was elected to Aosdána in 1991.
