King, Cecil
Cecil King (b. Wicklow 1921 and d. 1986) was largely self-taught as an artist.
Retrospectives of his work were held at the Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane (1981), Oliver Dowling Gallery (1991) and the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin (2008). Solo exhibitions of King’s work include Hillsboro Gallery (2008), Cork Arts Society Gallery (1971), Ritchie Hendriks Gallery (1959). He exhibited as part Oireachtas and Irish Exhibition of Living Art on numerous occasions.
His work is included in the collections of Dublin City University; The Arts Council of Northern Ireland; The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon; The National University of Ireland, Galway; Trinity College, Dublin; The Tate, London; Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; and The Government Art Collection, UK.
