Biography

Alexandra Wejchert (Born in Poland 1921 and d. 1995) held degrees from Warsaw University (architecture) and from the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw.

Selected solo exhibitions include the Solomon Gallery, Dublin (1992); David Hendriks Gallery, Dublin (1969, 73); Kenny Gallery, Galway (1973); Molesworth Gallery, Dublin (1966); Galerie Lambert, l'Ie St. Louis, Paris (1968) and Galleria dell' Obelisco, Rome (1959). Major group exhibitions include ‘Thirty Years of Irish Art’, ROSC, Cork (1980); National Museum, Warsaw (1962); ‘Irish Directions’, touring Ireland and the USA (1974-76); The Third International Art Fair, London (1986); The National Self-Portrait Collection of Ireland; The National Galley, Dublin (1988); Open Sculpture International Exhibition, RHA Gallagher Gallery, Dublin (1988); Bronté Fine Arts, Boston, USA; Euro threshold Exhibition of Contemporary Irish Art, Toyamura International Sculpture Biennale, Japan (1993). She participated regularly in group exhibitions with Living Art Exhibition, Dublin; David Hendriks Gallery, Dublin; Galerie Lambert, Paris, and in RHA annual exhibitions, Dublin.

Her work is held in the collections of Shekina Sculpture Garden, Boyle Arts Collection, University of Limerick, University College Cork, The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon among others.
