Colin Middleton (b. 1910 Belfast, Northern Ireland and d. 1983) was largely self-taught as an artist.
A retrospective of his work was held in 1976 in Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane and Ulster Museum, Belfast. Solo shows of Middleton’s work include Ava Gallery, Bangor (2006); Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin (2001); Frederick Gallery (2001); Ulster Museum (1996); David Hendricks Gallery (1976); Cork Arts Society Gallery (1973); and McLelland Galleries (1973). Major group shows include Ava Gallery (2012, 2011, 2007, 2006, 2003); Tom Caldwell Gallery (2011); Irish Exhibition of Living Art (1970); and regular exhibitions with the Hendriks Gallery, Dublin, during the 1960s and 1970s.
Middleton’s work is included in the public collections of Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, McClelland Collection, The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
