Biography

Micheal Farrell b. Meath, Ireland, 1940, studied at Colchester College of Art and St. Martin’s College of Art, London.

He represented Ireland at the Paris Biennale in 1967. Solo exhibitions include ‘Michael Farrell - The Life and Work of an Irish Artist’ at Taylor Galleries, Dublin (2006), Galerie Bosquet, Paris (1995); Origrafica, Malmo (1991, 1981); Galerie Vannoni, Lyon (1990); Robin Gibson Gallery, Sydney (1990, 1986); Galerie Ouverte, Paris (1988); CTT, Brussels (1987); Galerie im Schlosspavillion, Munich (1984); Foire International d'Art, Atelier Champfleury, Stockholm (1981); and ‘Retrospective 1953-1978’ at the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin (1979).

Farrell’s work is included in many public collections, including Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin; Office of Public Works (OPW); Arts Council of Northern Ireland; the Ulster Museum and, in Paris, the Bibliotheque Nationale and the Pompidou Centre.
