Kindness, John

John Kindness (b. Belfast, Northern Ireland, 1951) attended the Belfast College of Art.

Solo shows include RHA, Dublin (2010); The Foundling Museum, London (2010); The Source Arts Centre and Library, Thurles (2009); Hillsboro Fine Art, Dublin (2007); and ‘John Kindness: celebrating 20 years’ at the Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast (2006). Group shows include Peppercanister Gallery, Dublin (2013); Phoenix Park Visitor Centre, Dublin (2012); Hillsboro Fine Art, Dublin (2011); Draíocht, Blanchardstown, Dublin (2006); and Fenton Gallery, Cork (2001). Kindness was commissioned by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon to produce work for the touring school show ‘Tokens’ (1993).

Apart from The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon’s collection, Kindness features in the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s collection; The Victoria and Albert Museum, London; The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin; The Boston Museum of Fine Art, Boston; The Ulster Museum, Belfast; The Imperial War Museum, London; and Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane.
