Blackshaw, Basil
Basil Blackshaw b. Antrim, Northern Ireland, 1932, d. 2016 studied at the Belfast College of Art and was awarded a scholarship by the Committee for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts to study in Paris.
Recent solo exhibitions include Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris (2006); Fenton Gallery, Cork (2005) and Ulster Museum, Belfast (2002). Group shows include ‘The Vincent & Noeleen Ferguson Collection’ The Model, Sligo (2005) and ‘Post War – Pre Troubles’ Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast (2005).
Blackshaw’s work is included in the collections of the Ulster Museum; The Arts Councils of Northern Ireland and Ireland; Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; and Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin.
