Hughes, Ronnie

Biography
Ronnie Hughes (b 1965) studied at Belfast School of Art, Ulster University. He has had over 30 solo exhibitions including The Butler, The Hugh Lane, Limerick City Gallery of Art and the Royal Hibernian Academy, as well as having work included in numerous group exhibitions in Germany, Italy and the USA. Aside from the Arts Council, his work can be found in other collections including Arts Council Northern Ireland and IMMA. Ronnie Hughes primarily teaches Drawing, Painting and Practice on the Fine Art programmes at Institute of Technology, Sligo.

Solo exhibitions include The Golden Bough, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane (2010); Goethe Institute, Dublin (2009); Rubicon Gallery, Dublin (2008, 2003, 2001, 1999, 1997); Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast (2006, 2002, 1999). Selected group shows include Lesley Heller Workspace, New York (2011); Rua Red Arts Centre, Dublin (2011); ‘Graphic Studio 50 years’, Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin (2010); and eva International, Limerick (2007, 1995, 1994, 1993, 1992, 1990).

 

Selected collections include The British Council; Boyle Civic Collection; The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon; Arts Council of Northern Ireland; Irish Contemporary Arts Society; Irish Life; Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA); and Limerick City Gallery.
