Biography

John Noel Smith (b. Dublin, Ireland, 1952) attended Dun Laoghaire School of Art, followed by postgraduate studies in Berlin.

Exhibitions include a two-person show with Anthony Caro at Waterhouse & Dodd, London (2012); solos shows at Konsthallen Hishult, Sweden (2012); Fendersky Gallery, Belfast (2011); Solstice Arts Centre, Navan (2011); Hillsboro Fine Art, Dublin (2011, 2010, 2009); and J. Cacciola Gallery, Chelsea, New York (2008). He has exhibited as part of group shows at Hillsboro Fine Art, Dublin (2009, 2008, 2006); Solstice Arts Centre, Navan (2007); Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin (2004); among others.

His work forms part of important public collections, including The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) and Berlinische Galerie, the state museum of modern art in Berlin.
