O'Shea, Mick

Biography

Mick O’Shea (b. Cork, Ireland, 1958) has been instrumental in establishing a vibrant and growing sound art scene in Cork city. He formed Gaitkrash (an experimental performance/theatre group) with Bernadette Cronin and Regina Crowley in 2007. He formed The Quiet Club in 2006 with sound artist Danny McCarthy. With fellow artists Stephen Brandes and Irene Murphy he set up The Domestic Godless in 2003 who explore culinary activity as art through performative cooking events. He is a director of the Cork Artists Collective and a founder member of The Guesthouse.

Solo exhibitions have included Sirius Arts Centre, Dublin (2004); Fenton Gallery, Cork (2004, 2001) and group shows at Fenton Gallery, Cork (2001, 2000).

His work is held in The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon’s collection.
