Aiken, John

John Aiken b. Belfast, Northern Ireland, 1950, studied at the Chelsea School of Art, London and British School at Rome.  

Solo shows include Stanley Picker Gallery, London (2003); Il Prisma, Italy (2003); an exhibition in two parts at the Tate Gallery St Ives and the Centro do Arte Moderna, Gulbenkian Foundation Lisbon in (1995-1996) and Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin (1988). Group shows include ‘Fine Lines’ at Limerick City Gallery of Art (2011); ‘A Process of Living’ at Leicester City Art Gallery (2008) and his work was included in the inaugural exhibition of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Oslo (1990).

Aiken’s work is included in the collections of the Arts Councils of Ireland and Northern Ireland, University College Dublin, AIB (Allied Irish Bank) and Limerick City Gallery of Art among other public and private collections.
