Biography

Shane Cullen (b. Mostrim, Co. Longford, Ireland, 1957) studied at Sligo Regional Technical College, Ireland.

 

Solo exhibitions have included Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast and Orchard Gallery, Derry/Londonderry (both 2003); Project Arts Centre, Dublin (2002); Haus am Lutsoplatz, Berlin (2001); and ‘Fragmenssur les Institutions Républicaines IV’, P.S.1 Museum, New York (1998). Group exhibition include ‘Re-Imaging Ireland’, University of Virginia Art Museum, Charlottesville, Virginia (2003); Temple Bar Gallery & Studios, Dublin (2002); 3rd International Artists Meeting, Katowice and ‘Multiples xxxx’, Temple Bar Gallery & Studios, Dublin and ICA London (all 2002).

 

His work is included in The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon’s collection.

 

The work of Shane Cullen (b.1957) is concerned with documenting changes and events of historical or political importance which affect the everyday lives of his generation and his contemporaries. He studied at Sligo IT. 1991 and has exhibited his work in Europe, the Middle East and North America. He represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale and the Lodz Biennale. His work is held in public and private collections both in Ireland and abroad.
