O'Connell, Eilis

Biography

Eilis O' Connell (b. Derry, Northern Ireland, 1953) studied at the Crawford School of Art, Cork; Massachusetts College of Art, Boston; and Crawford School of Art.

She has represented Ireland at the Paris Biennale in 1982 and the Sao Paolo Biennale in 1985. Solo exhibitions have included  ‘Cu’ Allihies Copper Mines Museum, Beara Peninsula, Cork (2012); West Cork Arts Centre (2011); RHA, Dublin (2011); Cass Sculpture Foundation, Goodwood, West Sussex (2008) and Green on Red Gallery (2005, 2002). She has regularly exhibited at RHA Annual exhibitions and eva International, as well as other group shows at Kings Place, Pangolin, London (2012); Crawford Art Gallery, Cork (2011); and Monster Truck Gallery, Dublin (2011).

Her work is included in The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon’s collection as well as the collections of Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin; Arts Council of Northern Ireland; University College Dublin; National Self Portrait Collection, University of Limerick; and Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane among others nationally and internationally.
