Biography

Pauline Bewick (b. Northumberland, England, 1935) studied at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. She had her first exhibition in 1957 in the Clog Gallery, Dublin and recently celebrated her 75th birthday in 2010, with an exhibition at the Taylor Galleries, Dublin.

Other major exhibitions include ‘Two to Fifty’ a retrospective exhibition at the Guinness Hop Store (1985) and ‘The Yellow Man’ exhibition at the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin (1996). Her biography, Pauline Bewick: Painting a Life, by art historian and former director of the National Gallery of Ireland James White, was published in 1985. Bewick was commissioned by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon to produce work for the first in a series of touring school shows entitled ‘The School Show’ (1986).

Apart from The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, her work is represented in many collections including The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, RTÉ, The Office of Public Works (OPW), and the Irish President's residence Áras an Uachtarán.
